This RIDOC-run career website seeks to connect justice-involved individuals in need of employment with Rhode Island employers in need of qualified candidates. To further support its Mission and strategic goals, RIDOC has completed the first phase of work on its Workforce Re-entry Initiative (WorkRI). Many work while also participating in various programs, including education classes. Connecting justice-involved individuals to educational, work training and employment opportunities enables them to provide for their families and contribute to their communities.ĭuring incarceration, offenders can gain work experience that is often applicable outside the walls of prison (i.e., carpentry, upholstery, auto body, landscaping/grounds crew, etc.). The Rhode Island Department of Corrections' (RIDOC) strategic goal is centered around the creation of programming that trains offenders with marketable skills and affords them opportunities to attain meaningful education and gainful employment.

Gainful employment is only one of several major factors that plays a key role in the successful re-entry and rehabilitation of justice-involved individuals, helping to reduce recidivism. Victim Information And Notification Everyday (VINE).Transitional Services & Discharge Planning.
